During a graphic design course, we were tasked with replicating the style of a few magazine companies of our choosing. Game Informer was an easy choice, as I had collected their issues over the years and always featured very interesting cover art and typography. Naturally, I included my most anticipated games of that year in time.
I chose not to use Game Informer's actual logo in case it would cause confusion or something.
The Deus Ex cover was made back in 2015, the Cyberpunk 2077 one is my updated attempt if I had to do it again in the current year.

Not bad, I think I nailed the yellow font scheme and V being central to the cover art, but I was just using game art that was readily available rather than one made specifically for the cover. Still, I think both were good ways of approach, and I'm glad I got to see what a novice freelancer like myself would do first and then how a multi-million dollar publishing company approached a very specific set of rules. I'll definitely be trying my hands on more mock-up magazine covers in the future.
